DPM-8638 Solvent-free high-temperature resistant phenyl silicone resin
Overview
- This product is an organic silicone resin that cures at room temperature without yellowing; it features room-temperature curing, rapid surface drying at room temperature, and fast deep curing. It offers excellent aging resistance, resistance to extreme temperatures, as well as excellent color and gloss retention.
- The room-temperature-curing silicone resin paint formulated with DPM-8638 addresses the limitation found in commercially available methyl silicone resins—where hardness and toughness cannot be simultaneously achieved—offering excellent overall performance. The cured coating, characterized by high hardness and high density, ensures superior heat resistance, low permeability, and corrosion resistance, effectively isolating the metal surface from external factors such as water, air, and salts, thereby protecting it from damage caused by environmental influences. Its high toughness ensures that the coating is resistant to cracking or delamination even under extreme conditions (e.g., acidic/alkaline environments, salt spray, or extreme temperatures), allowing for long-term durability and guaranteeing protective effectiveness for 20–30 years.
- DPM-8638 is solvent-free and features a high solid content with low viscosity; the resulting coating can be applied by spraying or brushing without the need for any diluents, complying with environmental protection regulations. To ensure adequate adhesion to the substrate, the coating thickness should not exceed 50 μm.
Product Features
- Solvent-free formulation with low odor; complies with environmental protection regulations.
- When used in combination with a curing agent to form a two-component system, it can achieve rapid surface drying at room temperature or be thermally cured at temperatures above 150°C; alternatively, it can be used as a single-component system for high-temperature baking curing.
- Balances hardness and toughness, provides excellent adhesion to various metal substrates, and prevents cracking even when applied in thick coatings.
- When used in combination with appropriate thermally stable pigments or metal powders, it represents the most suitable base material for preparing solvent-free, high-temperature resistant silicone resin coatings.
- The cured coating exhibits excellent thermal stability, outstanding weather resistance, and superior salt spray resistance.
- Upon complete curing, the paint film exhibits excellent hardness, toughness, wear resistance, impact resistance, and chemical resistance.
- Can be used to prepare high-gloss colored paints as decorative, high-temperature-resistant, and weather-resistant topcoats.
- Excellent high-temperature resistance – does not yellow even when baked at 300°C and retains its shine.
Application Area
- High-temperature resistant coatings for household appliances, cookware, stoves, fireplaces, ovens, kilns, flues, chimneys, vehicle exhaust pipes, and engines
- High-temperature resistant insulating coatings for household appliances, electronic products, electrical components, and mechanical and electrical products
- The most suitable base material for preparing high-temperature resistant insulation and thermal insulation coatings, fireproof coatings, heavy-duty anticorrosion coatings, thermal conductive coatings, and other similar coatings.
Main parameter
| Combination and Ratio | appearance | Solid content wt% | specific gravity g/cm3 | Viscosity25℃ cps | |
| DPM-8638 A/B | 8638A | Colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid | 100 | 0.95-1.05 | 20~100 |
| A/B=4:1~2:1 | 8638B | Colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid | 100 | 0.95-1.05 | 100~500 |
| Curing conditions: Room temperature curing is recommended (25°C); surface drying takes 30–60 min. When the A/B ratio is 2:1, the surface drying time is 30 min; when the A/B ratio is 4:1, the surface drying time is 60 min. Without the addition of a curing agent, DPM-8638A can also be baked at 280°C for 30 min to achieve curing; alternatively, a small amount of curing agent B may be added to reduce the baking curing temperature. After 72 h, the material’s performance reaches its optimal state; the exact curing time depends closely on factors such as humidity, temperature, paint film thickness, and the water content of the fillers, and should be determined based on specific application tests. | |||||
| *Since this reaction involves a wet-curing system, the specific conditions are closely dependent on factors such as the ambient humidity and temperature, the paint film thickness, and the water content of the fillers; therefore, the amount of curing agent should be adjusted according to the actual operating conditions.* | |||||
Method of use
1.Coating formulation
Formulation of solvent-free pure silicone resin high-temperature resistant coatings
The colorant should be added to DPM-8638A and dispersed uniformly at high speed; the mixture should be protected from moisture and stored in a sealed container. Before use, it should be thoroughly mixed with the curing agent DPM-8638B.
Room-temperature curing high-temperature resistant coating formulation (Component A):
| constituent | Mass fraction |
| DPM-8638A | 100 |
| high-temperature resistant rubber | 22 |
| mica flour | 11 |
| Low-melting-point glass powder(350℃) | 22 |
| High-purity zinc phosphate | 11 |
2.production processes:
Disperse all components directly until a uniform mixture is obtained; it is recommended to disperse at 1200–1500 rpm for 45–60 minutes. Filter the mixture using a 200-mesh filter bag before packaging. Adding the filler prior to dispersion may cause the system to thicken significantly; however, the viscosity will subsequently decrease until it stabilizes. During the dispersion process, humidity must be strictly controlled; production should not be carried out in high-humidity environments.

3.form of construction work
- For application methods such as spraying, brushing, or roller coating, it is recommended to clean the substrate thoroughly before application—removing oil and rust, and sandblasting the surface—to increase the substrate’s roughness, which enhances adhesion. The coating thickness should ideally be less than 50 μm; coatings that are too thick are prone to cracking at high temperatures.
Matters need attention
1、After pouring the resin from the container, wipe away any excess resin from the container opening, tighten the lid securely, and store the container in a cool, dry place.
2、Use the material immediately after mixing; do not pour any unused resin or coating back into the container.
3、After use, brushes, spray guns, and similar tools should be promptly cleaned with solvents such as alcohols, ethers, or esters in preparation for subsequent use.
4、Ensure proper ventilation during construction.
5、This product has a slight odor and may cause mild irritation to the skin or eyes; if it accidentally comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If you experience any discomfort, please seek medical attention at a hospital.
6、When the relative humidity at the construction site exceeds 75%, please proceed with construction with caution.
Safety, Packaging and Storage
- Both Component A and Component B are packaged in 25 kg per barrel; they should be stored in a cool, dry place protected from light at a temperature ranging from 5–25°C. The packaging must remain intact; the shelf life of both the main agent and the curing agent is 6 months. Components A and B must be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent contact with moisture.
